Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the oldest hospital in the US dedicated exclusively to pediatrics, is a leader in advancing children’s healthcare.
A vital part of their care system is the Child Life Services Program. This dedicated team works tirelessly to make a child’s stay at a hospital as pleasant as possible. From playing games with children who cannot leave their beds to planning birthday parties, the Child Life Specialists provide comfort during some of the most uncertain, scariest times in a child’s life.
Bringing Joy to Hard Days
On an average day, the Child Life Specialists may laugh and be silly with a child to bring a little joy to a tough day. They may also walk a child through an upcoming operation, using a doll to show each step of the preparation to help the child understand and overcome their fear. They can also be found assisting staff who need to treat infants. The Specialists help by tucking in the infant’s arms and legs to help them stay calm during care. Whatever their day brings, they are an essential part of caring for children and their families during these trying times.
However, they cannot do it alone. They need our collective support. Their department would not exist without generous donations from people and businesses who care about children’s health.
King Swings and BIG-98.1 Partner to Benefit CHOP
King Swings is thrilled to announce our partnership with BIG-98.1 Loves Our Kids Radiothon. In conjunction with the radiothon, King Swings has donated the best-selling Sea King swing set to auction off, with all proceeds benefiting CHOP’s Child Life Specialist Program. The radiothon will take place Thursday and Friday, December 5th and 6th. During this time, Big 98.1 will air stories about the families and children at CHOP. Tune in to learn about the miracles that happen every day!
