At King Swings, we believe in the power of play to bring kids, families, and communities together. For years, we’ve had the honor of working with families to customize swing sets that fit families and communities' unique needs, creating spaces where every child can experience the joy of play.
In an effort to ensure that the joy of play can be shared by all children regardless of ability, King Swings is launching All Play, a new and growing initiative to offer components, playgrounds, and accessories that include everyone.
Every family will have unique needs, and with All Play, you have the power to customize your playground for your children’s unique needs. You can customize one of our standard Residential or Commercial Flex Playgrounds to fit your needs. Or, if you need an ASTM-compliant playground, you can use components from All Play on our Commercial Pro Playgrounds to help include everyone.
As we launch All Play, we want to highlight some inspiring stories that helped shape our commitment to accessibility, creativity, and connection. Hearing firsthand how families with similar needs like yours customized their swing set to serve their children will help you design the perfect play space for your family.

Access to the Tower: Meeting Children Where They Are
One family, the Joneses, shared how important the proper access point was for their swing set. Their son needed something challenging but still achievable — a way to build confidence without frustration.
“Our child was able to challenge himself, but was successful at the same time,” Mrs. Jones said. They chose a staircase design that offered just the right balance.
Their goal was clear: to create a swing set their child could use independently, “just like a typical kiddo.” This goal led them to choose the staircase for their swing set. The steps, with a railing and no crossbar at the top to duck under, made the tower accessible to their child.
When designing for your child, it’s essential to think about how they will access the tower — and how easy it is for you as an adult to support them if needed. At King Swings, our staircases and ramps are thoughtfully designed without crossbars at the top, making it easier for everyone to move freely. On top of that, both the stairs and ramp can have poly railings, which give the child plenty to brace themselves against and give a sense of security.
If your situation requires a truly ADA-compliant option, such as a church or other public playground, our ADA staircase is a great option.
Slides: Safety, Comfort, and Fun
The right slide can make a world of difference. The Jones family opted for the Avalanche Slide, which has higher sides and a smoother lip at the bottom, making it easier for their child to transition safely.
“We needed a slide with a bit of a side to it at the top because going onto his bottom is not the most fluid motion,” Mrs. Jones shared.
Another family, the Kropfs, emphasized the joy of sliding together.
“Emma loves the slides! We chose the racing slides [two slides side-by-side], so when she’s older, we could slide right with her…it was important for us to be able to interact with her.”
The Avalanche Slide and Super Spiral Slide are excellent choices for children who need extra support or slower speeds. Both have tall sides and a more manageable speed, while tube slides, though covered, are often too fast for children who may have lower natural reflexes.
Fun Accessories: Simple Joys, Big Connections
It’s often the simplest features that spark the most happiness.
“She loves sitting and spinning the tic-tac-toe!” the Kropfs shared. They also added decking under the tower, creating a shaded play space perfect for a donut swing they found online and a summer water table.
The donut swing, in particular, became a favorite. “This is her favorite, as she can lie down on it, and we can swing and spin her! My nieces came over a couple of days ago…and they enjoyed sitting on the donut swing spinning around!”
When designing a swing set for a child with disabilities, it’s not just about accessibility — it’s about creating spaces where imagination, movement, and connection thrive.
Our wide selection of swings provides plenty of fun, thrilling rides. However, if you need a special swing, our swing beam’s swing hangers make it easy to add in additional swings, such as cloth sensory swings or other fun finds on Amazon.
Fun accessories, like the tic-tac-toe that the Kropfs love, add a lot of easily accessible fun. From ship’s wheels to maze panels, we can include interactive, fun options for all skill levels. We also offer musical toys that are installed at ground level.
Our communication board allows children to point and use symbols and icons to express themselves. As one of All Play's first new products, we desire it to enable children to share ideas, wants, and needs clearly on the playground.
Safety Measurements
The Kropfs also made thoughtful modifications to enhance safety, such as planning to add a more rigid barricade at the monkey bar entrance and the rock climbing wall opening.
They also recommended choosing solid railings over rope railings on the ramps or staircases for greater stability, and extending ramps to reduce steepness when possible.
Small adjustments like these can make a huge difference in giving children — and parents — peace of mind.
Extra space also increases the safety of your playground. Keeping the tower sizes spacious and offering plenty of room for children who need support helps everyone play together.
The Power of Customization
Both the Joneses and the Kropfs emphasized how important the customization process was for them. Being able to adjust, adapt, and fine-tune the design gave them confidence their children would be able to fully enjoy their new play spaces.
“You all made it so easy for us to get it exactly as we wanted it,” the Kropfs said. “The transparency of pricing was also so helpful...That in itself decided to choose King Swings so easily!”
The Joneses echoed this, sharing that the clear communication and willingness to customize made a challenging search for inclusive equipment feel rewarding and affordable.
